If you have read the OS X Mountain Lion system requirements and you are discouraged that the next version of OS X will not support your computer, do not give up hope for that old Mac!
In This Version, MAC OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5 added an exciting new feature to more improve the work and enjoy or also fixed the Bugs in the previous version of Mac. Mac added 200 plus new features just like ma enjoy including iMessage support, Reminders, Notification Center, Notes, Game Center, extensive icloud integration, and much more. Mountain Lion includes over 200 new features to update your Mac into the best computing experience yet. With the new Messages app, you can send text, photos, videos, contacts, Web links, and documents to anyone using another Mac, iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - you can even start a conversation on one device and continue it on another.
A smart member of the MacRumors Forums has managed to get OS X Mountain Lion Developer Preview to work on an officially unsupported white MacBook from mid 2007, a model with the unsupported Intel GMA 950 GPU, 2 GHz Core 2 Duo CPU and only 1 GB of RAM. OS X 10.8 not only runs on the old MacBook, it also reportedly runs very well and with full graphics acceleration.
The method has reportedly been tested on MacBook 2007 MacBook2.1 and MacBook 2008 MacBook3.1, but will probably work on other unsupported Macs as well. If you want to try this yourself, be prepared to get your hands dirty and back upup of your Mac before you start. You need to access the Dev Preview, an officially supported Mac in addition to the unsupported Mac to copy some files, the guide prompts to swap hard drives, but you could do the same with Target Disk Mode. You need quite a bit of patience anyway.
Here are the full instructions according to hackerwayne on MacRumors forums:
——1. Get a copy of Mountain Lion, I got mine from Apple. If you are not a developer you may be able to get it in “the bay of pirates”
2. Make sure you have a Mountain Lion compatible Mac, I am using a MacBook 2.4 GHz Aluminum 2008
3. I don’t have FireWire to use Target Disk Mode, so I removed the MacBook White’s hard drive, inserted it into the ML-compatible Mac, and installed Mountain Lion as usual.
4. Make sure everything is set upuntil you reach the desktop
5. Now remove the hard drive from the compatible Mac and insert it into the MacBook White. Restart the MB White and hold “CMD + V”. It should say “Incompatible Mac Detected. Reason: Mac-F4208EC8” The “Mac-F4208EC8” is a unique ID for your Mac, so copy it down.
6. Remove the hard drive from the MacBook White, reinsert it into the compatible Mac and reboot into Mountain Lion. You now navigate to ‘/ System / Library / CoreServices’ on the Mountain Lion partition. Unlike 10.7 Lion, users remove PlatformSupport.plist. In ML 10.8, add that unique ID you just copied to PlatformSupport.plist. If you try to delete that Plist file, Kernal panic will greet you at startup.
7. Remember to add your model ID in PlatformSupport.plist. If you are using a MacBook White like me, add MacBook2.1 right above MacBook6.1. This step is important because the EFI reads this in sequence.
For MacBook 07 and 08, add this line directly above MacBook6.1
For 07: MacBook2,1 For 08: MacBook3,1

For Mac Pro 06 and 07: add this line right above MacPro4,1 For 06: MacPro1,1 For 07: MacPro2,1

8. Now restart it with the MacBook White and check if the ML is starting up. If you did everything right you should be able to reach the desktop, but have no accelerated graphics at all, just frame buffer. (for MacPro1,1 and 2,1 with upgraded graphics card, you should get a perfectly working ML)
9.2 ways to perform this step: a) Manually copy and install the correct kext. B) Use kexthelper (skip 10 – 13)

MacBook2,1 – AppleIntelGMA950.kext, AppleIntelGMA950VADriver.bundle, AppleIntelGMA950VLDriver.bundleMacBook3,1 – AppleIntelGMAX3100.kext, AppleIntelGMAX3100VADriver.bundle, AppleIntelGMAX3100VLDriver.bundleMacBook3,1 – AppleIntelGMAX3100.kext, AppleIntelGMAX3100VADriver.bundle, AppleIntelGMAX3100FB70 / HD video card required. 7300GT not tested!
MacMini2.1; 3.1 iMac4.1; 5.1 not tested. Try to use the above method depending on which graphics card you have and report the results! Thanks! Sims mac requirements.
For ATI graphics card, I don’t have Mac to test them, I believe it’s the same, try ATIRadeonX1000.kext, ATIRadeonX1000GL.bundle, ATIRadeonX1000VA.bundle, ATI- yliadxos.bundle and report.
10. Back to the MB white, install the kext with KextHelper and reboot.
11. After it reboots, you should be able to see a pop up message that the kext is not compatible. If so, reboot.
12. Boot into single user mode (Command + S) and type the following:
chmod -R 755 / Volumes / ~ MLPartitionName / System / Library / Extensions / AppleIntelGMA950.kext
chown -R root: wheel /Volumes/~MLPartitionName/System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelGMA950.kext
Then delete the cache and rebuild it:
rm -rf /Volumes/~MLPartitionName/System/Library/Extensions.mkext
kextcache -k / Volumes / ~ MLPartitionName / System / Library / Extensions
13. Reboot

14. Mountain Lion work on unsupported system.
—--
The entire process is a lot like running a Hackintosh on unsupported Mac hardware, and assuming Apple doesn’t change anything, it could theoretically be possible for custom OS X 10.8 third-party installers to be created down the road, specifically for the unsupported Macs. Maybe even with a simple USB installer? Who knows, but it is also possible that Apple can install these Macs in the final OS X Mountain Lion build, and it is equally possible that the next Developer Preview build will no longer do the capability for the above method at all. Ultimately, we won’t know until OS X 10.8 is finalized by Apple.
We don’t have a Mac to test this with so if you run into any issues, the best place to resolve the issue is probably the original Forums thread on the issue on MacRumors.com.
If you try this, let us know! yliadxos
